College Readiness

Preparing for college as a youth lacrosse player requires a balanced focus on both academics and athletics. It’s important to start early by taking high school coursework seriously, maintaining a strong GPA, and preparing for standardized tests like the SAT or ACT. Understanding NCAA eligibility rules is critical—student-athletes should be aware of the core course requirements and register with the NCAA Eligibility Center by their junior year. On the athletic side, players should continually develop their skills through club teams, showcases, and consistent training, while also demonstrating leadership, discipline, and teamwork. Building a strong recruiting profile is key; this includes a highlight video, athletic resume, and reaching out to college coaches with personalized messages that showcase both athletic and academic achievements. Attending prospect days, college camps, and making campus visits can help athletes find the right fit and make meaningful connections with coaches. Most importantly, managing time effectively and staying motivated—while balancing school, sports, and life—is essential for long-term success and a smooth transition to the college level.
